Harry B. Coe, Treasurer
Since 1996, after 18 years of unemployment following the University of Michigan and a naval architecture career cut-short, Harry Coe has built his recovery working as a peer provider.  As one of the originators of the highly successful Consumer Connections peer training program, he demonstrated a leadership role in New Jersey serving as founding member, and first President of the Consumer Provider Association (CPA-NJ).  Mr. Coe is active on numerous boards & committees, including the NJ Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (NJPRA), NJ Governor appointment to the Community Mental Health Citizens Advisory Board, and past President of Monarch Housing Associates.  Specializing in program quality assurance, his numerous consulting activities have included working with the following:

  • DHS, Mental Health Licensing, reviewing Partial Care programs on over 150 site reviews
  • Patient Services Compliance Unit (PSCU), reviewing all NJ State Psychiatric Hospitals
  • Rutgers, Dept of Psychiatric and Rehabilitation, evaluating and scroing NJ Self-Help Centers
  • CSPNJ, Wellness Institute, surveying Supportive Housing program residents over 5 years
  • Bridgeway Rehabilitation, facilitating focus groups for PACT participant satisfaction
  • DMHAS, to evaluate competing proposals in response to Request for Proposals (RFP)
  • DMHS, as interviewer for the evaluation of community placements from state hospitals

Mr. Coe's statewide experience in conducting structured interviews of clients, staff, and family members totals over 1,400 completed interviews working on 8 various projects, and ongoing assignments.  In addition, he has performed nearly 90 anti-stigma presentations, sharing his recovery story with NJ high school, and college students.  Mr. Coe has earned his CPRP (Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner) credential in 2003, and has presented at state, and national conferences, including NJPRA, the International Association of Peer Supporters (iNAPS), and Alternatives (SAMHSA).  He was honored with the prestigious Alan Lunt Consumer Advocate Award at the NJPRA Annual Conference in 2011.
